The Man Who Cycled The Road by Mark Beaumont

Filed under: Uncategorized — by velochick @ 3:01 pm

I just popped into Southwark Library today as I was getting a bit desperate for a travel book.  I haven’t watched any of his documentaries so far so I don’t know what to expect, just hope it won’t be too ‘blokey’ ie going on and on about bike chaIns falling off. I like bike stories that tell us about the people and cultures he meets, funny stories and well, may be a bit of blood and the occasional motorist v cyclist slanging match.

Ok, let’s see how it goes!

Blinking WordPress!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by velochick @ 2:50 pm

I have been having problems with my PC and the WordPress software. For example, sometimes when you press ‘Publish’, it just sits there, flashing and not publishing. I have tried different computers, such as at the library, and the same thing happens. Today I am an an internet cafe near London Bridge, and it seems to work, but I have to pay for it. I am hoping my own PC will publish my WordPress, as it is a real pain in the bum faffing round at an internet cafe. There are quite a few photos I wanted to upload.

I have been missing some proper travel books and thought it was about time I went into the Southwark library and got out some more ‘bike books’.

I still haven’t watched a single of his documentaries so I have no idea of what his style is. I hope it won’t be all ‘blokey’ and full of stuff like ‘chains falling off’ all the time.  Some bike books can get a bit ‘cliched’.

What I enjoy about bike books re the tales of people you meet and some some embarrassing incidents and occasional ‘slanging matches’ with motorists. I also like good, descriptive writing style, people may be able to travel, but can they write?

It is quite a hefty book, so let’s see how we get on….

Bradley Wiggins v Alcohol Addiction

I see that he has battled alcohol addiction and my friend works for an Alcohol & Drugs Addiction charity and I don’t think there is a patron for it. I will ask my friend to see if he can contact the Chief Executive to see if Bradley Wiggins may be a patron as he also hates drugs.

My First Crocheted Bicycle Saddle

It was pure guesswork, as I didn’t know what I was doing, but think I can get away with it.  I just need to work out how to do waterproof ones.

Welcome

I love bicycle seat covers.  And I thought I’d do a blog about them.

My favourites are the homemade ones such as crochet.
